To get licensed as a Real Estate Salesperson, the CA Department of Real Estate (DRE) requires that you complete 3 required courses: Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Practice, 1 Elective Course. Mike Russ Schools offers these courses in a Correspondence (Printed Book) format which is shipped directly to the student. 

To complete a course, the CA DRE requires you study each book course, and then take a final exam for each course and pass with a 60% or better. To take the exam, simply log-in to your online course and select the exam you will be taking.  All exams are open-book, have a 3 hour time limit, and must be done in one sitting.  The CA DRE requires that you study each course for a minimum of 18 days before you take the final exam, meaning the date on each certificate of completion must be a minimum of 18 days apart from each other, otherwise the CA DRE will not accept them. The 18 days begins with your date of purchase.   The Final exam for each course will be taken online.  Once you have completed all 3 required courses, you will mail in your certificates of completion along with your application to the CA DRE (License/Exam application must be downloaded from DRE website) to get set up for your state exam. The Real Estate Salesperson Package also includes 3 Exam Prep Classes (Crash Course), that are designed to help you prepare for your state exam.

Mike Russ recommends that you attend the Prep Course at least 3 times before taking your State Exam.  Attend your 1st Crash Course after you finish your first book course to get an idea of the best way to study the material (each book is a couple hundred pages), and then save your other 2 Crash Courses for closer to when you are taking your state exam. You have 1 year from your purchase date to complete the courses in the package you purchase.
